Entertaining, gripping and easy to dive right in and enjoy.
A great story following on from the adventures of the main character Uhtred of Bebbanburg who is now a few years older but still as sharp as ever. This book follows on relatively soon after the main events of the previous book and there are many characters from previous books, however there is no need to read all the previous stories in the saga to enjoy this one. Utred fights on in this tale of unsure loyalties and untold enemies. Cornwell brings a brilliant feeling to the story with his knowledge of historic history. You feel as if you are standing on the side lines watching all the action take place. Can`t wait for the next story to follow on.
