4What appeared to be a layer of dirt on the item turned out to be a thick hand brushed grey layer of paint that had been half-heartedly sanded down by someone, leaving the original colour just showing through in places. It would have been helpful if the item description had mentioned that the Item needed to be completely stripped back and restored.
