Open your eyes to the British Class and Race system

From the eyes and experiences of a man growing up in one of the richest cities in the world. This book will help you realise that all young people need to be given the opportunities to fulfil their potential but class, colour and poverty in Britain has devastating effects on young black men.

  • Thought provoking

It’s jaw dropping and staggering in equal parts. Excellently written with enough fact, background information and historical content to keep those pages turned. It’s an uncomfortable read at times. It definitely opens your mind and eyes to systemic racist abuse.

  • Exciting Enigmatic Excellent Poignant Reality check of a book. A must read!!!!

I heard about this long awaited book on the off chance as Akala did a signing of his book in Finsbury Parks infamous 'New Beacon' book shop. I have been an avid fan of his since i was a young girl so I am thrilled that he's finally written a book I can resonate with. Akala talks about really tough issues that are relevant to today's fractured Britain. It's just one of those books you just don't want to put down and you want to buy for everybody. Perhaps if we all read it.....Britain would become united and great again (rosy colored glasses most firmly on lol) Akala remains consistent in coming across as a truly rounded grounded brilliant black man. Thanks for this book.

  • Would definitely recommend

One of the best books I have ever read. Important reading for anybody who still feels as though Britain is a liberal utopia and that the BLM movement is relevant only to the US.
